Body Moisturizers + Updates

Every girl who is into anything beauty-related at all has their thing. And if you're reading this and thinking, "Nuh-uh, not me!", you can trust me when I say you just haven't discovered it in you yet! Maybe you have, and that's great, because then you'll know how it feels to have that one weak spot for all things *insert beauty product here*.

If you don't already know by the title, body moisturizers are my weakness! But it wasn't like I was sitting here one day thinking, which aspect of my physical self do I want to care for a little bit more or invest a large sum of money on..cause if I had that choice, I would want every visible part of my body to be prim, polished and perfect (hey, look, three Ps!).

It could be because I've always had ridiculously dry skin, and when I say ridiculous, you best believe it! I wouldn't want to exaggerate these things. Malaysia's such a humid country right, and my skin was NEVER properly moisturized even when I was lathering on body lotions and butters on a regular basis. Since it was humid all the time, my skin was scaly but I could always get away with being lazy a day or two, which will end up being a week or two, and then a month and so forth until I decide to get back into the moisturizing game again (usually when I have people to impress..harhar).

But that was one thing I could never do here in the U.S.
If I went one day without moisturising, especially in this dry winter weather, my skin suffered and it gets so dry I start seeing mini wrinkles..you know, those signs you get before your skin starts cracking and hurting under running water? No? Told you I had extremely dry skin!

Anyway, that's sort of when my hunt for the best moisturising body cream out there came about, I guess? It has gotten to the point now that even though I think I have found the almost-perfect moisturizer, I'm still a sucker for trying new body moisturizers. And since I go through them pretty fast, my stash will never get old!

Phew. That was a longer introduction than I intended..

Anyway, diving into The Body Shop body butters! I thought they were THE best thing to ever happen to me back home. Sure, the formula was of thick consistency (read: butter) and it made my skin "greasy" for hours on end but for some reason I never seemed to mind because I thought my skin was getting moisturized and it was never too unbearable. So, I stuck with The Body Shop for at least three years, usually sticking to the Shea Butter ones because those are the ones with the thickest formulas. Sometimes, I dwindled and tried other scents and flavors but they never really appealed to me in terms of the moisturising aspects of it.

And then I got to the U.S.
Naturally, I stocked up on 'em Body Shop body butters before I came here (oh, the irony) and while in Malaysia I could get away with using the same body butter tub for about six months, here they only lasted me for three months, tops!

Since I was in the U.S. I started branching out and trying many different brands without limiting myself to only body butters. I still wasn't convinced of the effectiveness other forms of body moisturizers can have...but you know, if I was that unhappy about it, I knew I had a choice to return it for a refund.

As of now, I'm finishing up what I can say now, is currently, the best body moisturizer I've ever used. And it's the Crabtree & Evelyn Savannah Gardens Scented Body Lotion. I never thought this would be a favourite, even when I was purchasing it.
It was Thanksgiving and my shopping problem was at an all time high..

I never thought scented body lotions can be so moisturising! The Jojoba Oil one on the left? Absorbs into your skin super fast- too fast for me because I can still feel my skin dry after that, but this scented Savannah Gardens one is just fabulosity in a bottle! I've never been a fan of having my lotions smell like perfume at the same time because, well, I have my perfumes for that reason. This lotion absorbs into your skin in less than 10 minutes, there is no "greasy" residue on your skin, and you are left with skin so moisturized you can still feel it 24 hours later- NO LIE. I never got this with any of the Body Shop body butters!

As you can see from the picture, I am a few days away from finishing this bottle, and I'll be picking another body moisturizer off my beauty shelf then. When body moisturizers are your weakness, you never run out of them. It'll be a while before I find something new to top this scented Savannah Gardens lotion, but until then, I PUT MY APPROVAL STAMP ON THIS PRODUCT.

A couple of things that arrived in the mail today-

Just some things I picked up from Ulta.com the other day and some samples that came with it.
1. Maybelline Expert Tools Lip Brush. Lost my Sephora Pro Lip Brush #81 the other day and boy, was I devastated. I swear, the weirdest things can make me upset.
2. Can't wait to try out this NYX Rouge Cream Blush because I've heard nothing but good reviews about it being the best drugstore cream blush. Trying to acheive that dewy look and this cream blush will most probably help, so fingers crossed that this product doesn't give me breakouts!
3. Real Techniques Stippling Brush. Also heard so many good things about this. Can't wait to match this with my HD foundation to produce that uber HD result.

--------

Leave me a comment if you have any body moisturisers that you absolutely swear by...I would love to check them out!
Planning on another post this weekend. I swear it won't be this wordy the next time!

Till then, you wonderful people.

Introduction

I've thought for a while now (more than a year, actually!) of starting a beauty blog. It was just this prevailing thought that I've been having, especially during my six-month break before I came here to the U.S. and I was spending most of my time online, combing through beauty and fashion blogs, watching my favourite YouTube beauty gurus do their thang, and constructing beauty lists...

Part of the reason (and for the most part) why I've been putting this off is because I wanted to be sure that I had something to offer to my readers. After all, if I'm not going to be presenting myself and whatever I want to show to my readers in a creative way...what's the point? Without giving you the specific number of girls and women out there already doing this, if you are even reading this write now, you KNOW I am just a needle in a haystack- just another girl with a beauty blog.

But am I, really?

As for now, I have several ideas in mind of how I want this blog to turn out. I have a direction that I would love to pursue and I want this blog to not only serve as a platform where women my age would love to use as a guide and inspiration to their daily needs, but to help me get my voice out there!

Being in college really makes you disregard your age entirely and focus more on acheiving career aspirations, and so, here I am.

Stay tuned for more beauty content coming this weekend!
